Launching the search for a new Dean for the College of Information
September 29, 2025
Dear Colleagues,
I am pleased to announce that I have appointed a search committee and launched a national search to find an outstanding leader to fill the position of Dean of the College of Information. Dr. Dawn Jourdan, Dean of the School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation, will chair the committee, which will be assisted by the international executive search firm Witt Kieffer. The complete list of committee members is provided below.
The next Dean of the College of Information will be charged with advancing and elevating the College’s identity, mission, and impact while fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and inclusion. This leader will guide interdisciplinary partnerships across the University, champion impactful research and creative activity, and steward resources to advance the College’s goals. The successful candidate will be an intellectual leader with the scholarly record and terminal degree to be appointed as a full professor and bring a proven record of leadership, a collaborative spirit, and a forward-looking vision for the future of information science.
In partnership with the University’s academic leadership team, the dean will also help advance institutional priorities and build meaningful connections beyond campus. By engaging policymakers, public officials, alumni, and business leaders, the dean will expand opportunities for students, strengthen community engagement, and attract new resources to support the College’s mission and growth.
Identifying a dean who can build on the College’s strengths and momentum will require a collaborative effort that draws on the full engagement of our community alongside the search committee. We invite you to support this process by sharing the opportunity through your networks and helping us reach exceptional candidates who can bring visionary leadership to the College.
