Community Engagement
Center for Community Engagement
The Center for Community Engagement connects the resources and talents of the university, people and communities, and facilitates connections and partnerships to support impact-driven and community-centered research, teaching and service that advances the public good.
The Center:
- Collaborates with our surrounding communities by developing mutually-beneficial partnerships to facilitate meaningful and sustainable change in College Park, Prince George’s County, the state of Maryland and beyond.
- Advances community-engaged research, teaching and learning by supporting and training our instructors and researchers to develop community, place and land-based approaches centered on trust, authenticity and reciprocity.
- Inspires a campus wide culture to Do Good by expanding opportunities across all colleges, schools, divisions and units for individuals who want to make a social impact.
- Amplifies and expands our reach by documenting the university’s impact across communities to find and celebrate opportunities for engagement, collaboration and partnerships.
Our university is deeply committed to collaborating with community partners to enhance the local economy, improve educational access and outcomes, advance social justice, and better the quality of life in our local communities and around the world. The Center for Community Engagement positions UMD to make good on our commitment to reimagine learning, invest in our communities, take on grand challenges, and partner with our communities – locally and globally – to advance the public good.
