Faculty Leadership Opportunities in the Division of Academic Affairs

April 24, 2023

Dear Faculty,

In support of the University Strategic plan, we continue to invest in people and communities, take on the grand challenges of our time, reimagine learning, and partner for the public good. To meet the demands of this work, I’m excited to inform you that we are launching searches for three positions within the Division of Academic Affairs.  Two of these opportunities are internal faculty searches:

  • The Special Assistant to the Provost for Strategic Initiatives oversees the implementation of the campus Fearlessly Forward Strategic Plan.  Working with the Provost’s senior leadership team, academic deans, and university vice presidents, this position will coordinate implementation of strategic plan programs and initiatives. This position is open for applications until May 8, 2023, with a best consideration date of May 3, 2023.  Dr. Patricia Alexander is chair for this search.
  • The Assistant Provost for Academic Planning provides general oversight for the establishment, modification, review, and discontinuance of academic programs, academic units, centers, institutes, and courses. In carrying out these responsibilities, the individual will work together with colleges, departments, other members of the Provost’s senior staff, and leaders of the other University Divisions as appropriate. This position is open for applications until filled, with a best consideration date of May 9, 2023. Dr. William Cohen is the chair for this search.

The third position is in support of the new Center for Community Engagement. We plan to begin a national search in upcoming weeks for the new Associate Provost for Community Engagement.   Conducted with the help of a search firm,  the position will be posted on the UHR Jobs site once the search commences. Dean Kimberly Griffin is the chair for this search.

Should you have interest in these positions, I encourage you to apply.  Please send your thoughtful nominations for any of these positions to the search chairs.

I hope all of you enjoy the remainder of the Spring 2023 semester.

Regards,

Jennifer King Rice
