Academic Facilities

As part of the Office of the Senior Vice President and Provost, we work to ensure the strategic and effective use of academic space at the University of Maryland by partnering with units across campus to identify opportunities to utilize, create, modify and renovate facilities.

We are dedicated to improving the physical learning environment at the University of Maryland through coordination of renewal and renovation of general purpose classrooms and other academic facilities, including working with personnel in the Deans' offices; in Facilities Planning; in Facilities Management and with the Teaching Facilities Committee.

General Purpose Classrooms

General Purpose Classrooms (GPCs) are scheduled centrally by Course and Classroom Scheduling Services.  For more information on GPCs, including scheduling, AV support, and TERP Classrooms, visit the Classrooms page.

Facilities Space Request

Existing space must be utilized as effectively as possible in order to support desired growth. Any activities that require additional space should be addressed first within a department's current allocation, then within the school or college. The facilities space request form is to be used by facilities officers, or their departmental representatives, for requesting space outside of current allocations and includes new, renovated, and leased space.
