Campus Resources to Support All Terps
September 04, 2025

Dear Campus Community,
The start of a new academic year is filled with possibilities and opportunities. Whether you're returning or starting your journey here on campus, this is an exciting time to explore, grow and connect. We encourage you to take advantage of the resources available to all members of our campus community.
UMD is here to support you in finding connections and community, prioritizing mental health and wellness, and developing habits and skills to help set you up for success on our campus and beyond.
Finding Belonging and Community
As you may be aware, the office led by Vice President Georgina Dodge recently changed its scope to better align with the work it performs on behalf of the entire campus community. As part of this change, the office transitioned to a new name, Belonging & Community at UMD.
The new name is a nod to the campus Belonging & Community Survey conducted last spring, which will continue to be a valuable, evidence-based tool used in determining steps we can take to enhance a sense of belonging among our students, staff and faculty.
Our dedicated staff and network of partners that span every college and division have always seen themselves as a team that serves every member of our community, and this shift further cements this mission. We believe this will open up new pathways for expanded partnerships across campus and reinforce our investment in our people and community.
Supporting Wellness
When we take care of ourselves and one another, we are better positioned to succeed academically and professionally, and grow personally.
We encourage you to visit our mental health and well-being website to discover the comprehensive range of resources available for students, faculty, staff and Terp families. The site features tailored offerings for every member of our community, including information and workshops from UMD's Counseling Center and wellness services through UMD's Health Center, such as the Faculty Staff Assistance Program. The website also offers resources for parents and family members of Terps who may need guidance in supporting their students.
Learning, Connecting and Growing as a Community
Beyond academic and wellness support, UMD offers practical resources to help you thrive. Our Campus Pantry is stocked with food for any member of the community facing food insecurity. Our Financial Wellness Center provides free peer-to-peer education on topics such as budgeting and investing to help you build financial literacy and achieve your goals. And through attendance at our First Look Fair, athletic match-ups and rivalries, and performances at The Clarice, Terps can celebrate our vibrant community together.
As you find your way around campus, please know that your university leaders are here to guide you and support you throughout the year ahead. Together, we can create a meaningful impact on our campus, our community and our world.
Sincerely,
