# Launching the search for a new Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management

*February 18, 2025*
> I am pleased to announce that a search committee has been appointed and the university has launched a national search to find an outstanding individual to fill the position of Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management.

Dear Colleagues,

In December 2024, our Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management, Barbara Gill, [**retired**](https://click.email.umd.edu/?qs=a431d483dc9517813be809c1ec4671c4d6123dc2e345550809ca3a8e7bb8f2751b831924c9e006de9a15c33fd086112b57f509771a022728) after serving our university for 38 years. I’m pleased to announce that a search committee has been appointed and the university has launched a national search for the next Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management. William A. Cohen, Associate Provost and Dean for Undergraduate Studies, will chair the committee, which will be assisted by the international executive search firm WittKieffer. The complete list of committee members is provided below. We are grateful to Shannon Gundy for graciously agreeing to serve as Interim Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management while we conduct this search.

We are seeking an excellent leader who can leverage our considerable academic strengths as a major research university, the unique advantages offered by our location, and our overriding commitment to inclusive excellence in all that we do. They will provide direction and promote efforts that are deeply dedicated to supporting students at every stage of their educational journey – from recruitment and admissions through enrollment, academic progress, and ultimately graduation. The Associate Vice President must be committed to continuing to build upon the strengths of the University, one that is a recognized leader on the regional, national, and international stage.

To identify the next Associate Vice President, we need a concerted effort that engages the entire community, working with members of the search committee. You can assist in the search process by using your personal contacts and networks to make the opportunity widely known so that we can attract a diverse pool of outstanding candidates for this position.
